When CCA did the Dynamic Wellness Challenge, I truly did go out of my way to change my habits and behaviors, making healthful choices, even when each choice seemed small. And it had an impact on my kids, even though they weren’t officially part of the Challenge. They became more aware of healthy choices; they became aware of a change in my choices. Through example, it elevated to them the concept of small but effective choices; it elevated the concept that we all actually choose — were not just victims of life.”
Video Program Feedback
“Personally I love the videos, very quick and you can watch conveniently on your own time. I forward them on to a select group of family and friends who love the helpful hints / tips too. I kind of feel it’s like stepping on the scale – it doesn’t make you any healthier but its that little reminder of what you want to accomplish and the videos are good reminders to me to be healthy.
It would be helpful to receive a short synopsis of the video content in the e-mails. For example if there was a recipe with the chef video, maybe that could be included in text in the e-mail or if there were exercises, maybe a short summary of the exercise like interval training. Nothing fancy, just something for reference.
Another idea is to couple the weekly videos with a Challenge. The Challenge had weekly focus areas, but they were presented in writing. The videos could also address the focal area for the week (those extra points). You could also develop a formal tracking mechanism of one’s changes . It could be visual and fun.”
(*DW note: After the initial Challenges we incorporated video and e-learning as well as PDF’s to make it easy for anyone to get the information in whatever format they prefer. We also developed an online tracking mechanism for the Challenge)
“I’ve enjoyed the video series because it is easy to access at work and the clips are short but rich. Also, they touch on a variety of healthful topics and activities ( healthy eating, exercise, and overall health) Its an easy and painless way to become a little more knowledgeable. I prefer it to reading — I just kind of perceive that reading an article will take too long. Also, written communication seems ineffective for showing an exercise technique or demonstrating a quick and easy recipe. I’d definitely recommend continuing the videos.”
